Soe Aung is the Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Forum for Democracy in Burma (FDB) www.fdburma.org which is a coalition of political organizations and individuals who have been working for democracy since 1988. The FDB operates as a dynamic force for the achievement of democracy and national reconciliation through effective political campaigns. FDB does this by facilitating the emergence of peoples’ popular movements; by pursuing effective intervention and concerted efforts in the international community, including the United Nations, to help solve Burma’s problems; by facilitating strategic consultation and coordination within the democracy movement; and by building up the FDB as a cohesive political force.
Concurrent to his FDB post, Soe Aung is the Secretary for Foreign Affairs and an Executive Committee Member of the Network for Democracy and Development (NDD) www.nddfreeburma.org. The NDD was established in 2001 as a political force of 1988 generation and newly emerged youth groups. Our mission is to build a peaceful and developed society within a democratic federal union, in cooperation with like-minded political and civil forces.
